In neurobiology you will concentrate solely on the nervous system, often focusing on the brain, with the goal of developing treatments for both psychiatric and neurological ailments, and contributing to the advancement of knowledge of the most complex and least understood part of the human body.
The fields within biology are further divided based on the scale at which organisms are studied and the methods used to study them: biochemistry examines the fundamental chemistry of life; molecular biology studies the complex interactions of systems of biological molecules; cellular biology examines the basic building block of all life, the cell; physiology examines the physical and chemical functions of the tissues and organ systems of an organism; and ecology examines how various organisms interrelate.
Science also refers to the body of knowledge produced by scientific investigation. The content of the test is organized into three major areas: cellular and molecular biology, organismal biology, and ecology and evolution. The new Biology course was introduced for the first time in 2019; hence we do not have any graduates yet. The Department is housed in the Science Center where our state of the art equipment and facilities are available to students during courses and for those that take the opportunity to work side-by-side with faculty in their independent research and honors theses projects. One primary goal of biological sciences is to deduce the molecular bases of all chemical processes that take place in living organisms.
We are committed to providing students with a broad exposure to biological processes and systems and a deep understanding of biology at environmental, organismal, cellular, and molecular levels. The options system in the second and third years allows students to study either a general background encompassing a comprehensive range of topics, or specialise in detailed aspects of animals, plants, cells or ecology.
